If you're ever frustrated by the lack of options for buying plastic-free products, you may take heart from this carefully created campaign for German detergent company Dash. It shows how the marvels of marine life are distorted by human plastic waste, through the deep dive of a papercraft penguin emitting human child noises in response to the disappointment and horrors it encounters. Does the creative depiction labour too hard, is it too contrived, or is this a point that cannot be made too many times in different ways until we all - corporations, governments, and individuals - pull together to put planet and life above profit and convenience? A key point to the ongoing Dash message is that avoidance of plastic is better than recycling, which is not in itself enough to solve the overall problem, at least with the current efficacy levels.
