Aw, it's so cute, how can it be controversial? Well, some people would see the Fiat Topolino vehicle as a hazard, despite its charm, because it can be used by young drivers and those without a full standard car licence. In the UK, for example, anyone aged 16 or older with at least a category AM (moped) licence can drive the £9,000 vehicle because it is classified as a light quadricycle (L6e category), explains Fiat. With a top speed of 27.9 mph, the diminutive vehicle can still do a fair bit of damage to fragile humans and other road users, point out those with concerns. The Italian-born car manufacturer says: "Simple, playful and iconic, the New Topolino Sport Collection is a Special Edition where timeless charm meets a fresh, contemporary attitude that delivers a bolder look and an unmistakably dynamic presence. New sporty stripe stickers, matte black painted wheels, black mirror caps and seats, new headlight frames, and an exclusive Sport logo come together to create a vibrant spirit and a carefree approach to mobility, bringing a new spark of fun for a new generation". Plenty of purchasers agree. Grand View Research reports that "The global micro EV market is valued between $4.2 billion and $9.8 billion, with projections estimating growth up to $20 billion by 2030". This little number, along with fellow micro EV the Citroën Ami - both owned by multinational Stellantis - have captured 80% of the European market. The trend for fun, youthful, urban-chic electric vehicles looks set to grow, and Europe's leading the way in making the right kind of impact.
