Quantum leap in car commercials - agree or disagree? If you're still unconvinced about investing in an electric car, here's an ad that's stuffed with answers to real questions, as well as cool effects and plenty of humour. In fact, the whole tone is humorous without sliding into being too sharp for its own good. To dispel any remaining doubts among those on the fence about electric vehicles (EVs), German automobile manufacturer Opel (aka Vauxhall) showcases the multitude of features and technologies integrated into the new Corsa in a two-minute music film directed by British director and filmmaker Henry Scholfield. No, there's none of the darker environmental aspects of EVs being questioned, but one wouldn't really expect that in any ad. The Corsa-e blurb on the Opel website boasts an Eco mode to boost your range (as well as a Sport mode for more fun). "With no noise or tailpipe emissions, it’s a clean drive that’s better for the environment," we're assured. For those interested, "the 100% electric engine glides from 0-60-mph in just 7.6 seconds and achieves an instant 260Nm of torque. When driving in B-mode, the regenerative braking system returns most of the energy from braking back to the battery, helping to reserve your range". But back to the ad - do we like it?

Yes, the ad is clever and witty and makes a change from cool people pouting as their swanky cars whizz through scenery but it's so fast-moving it makes your head ache. The cleverest part about it is adopting that image of Dustin Hoffman - if only the car looked that good!
