See if you agree! European aircraft manufacturer Airbus is rolling out its A350F - billed as "the world's most advanced freighter aircraft", and its eye-catching livery, unveiled in this eye-catching ad, is already making waves. Reactions so far reflect surprised delight and praise for the playful yet instantly distinctive design, which mimics brown paper /cardboard parcel deliveries. The 2022 design competition attracted over 4,000 entries and was won by John Feehan, a designer based in Dublin, Ireland, and teenage brothers Quinnten and Ellisten Iversen, in Canada. Presented at the Paris Air Show, it emerged from the Airbus paint shop in Toulouse, France. As reported by Forbes: "Airbus is heavily investing in the A350F freighter to capture the booming air freight market, expected to reach $642 billion by 2035. This advanced freighter, with 107 orders [including Air China buying six], offers a 111-tonne payload, 20% greater fuel efficiency, and meets 2027 CO2 standards, with deliveries beginning in late 2027". Powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines, the aircraft will offer up to 40% reduction in fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions compared to previous generation aircraft, says Airbus. "Made of over 70% advanced materials, the A350F will be 46 tonnes lighter than competitors and will feature the industry's largest main deck cargo door. It is the only freighter fully meeting ICAO's 2027 CO₂ standards and by the time it enters service it will be 50% SAF capable, with a target for 100% by 2030". Not just a pretty face and a great body, then.....
