Lebanese-born visual artist Eli Rezkallah says he was inspired to turn some 1960s ads on their head ads after overhearing his uncles (recently) talk about "how women are better off cooking, taking care of the kitchen, and fulfilling “their womanly duties”. Although I know that not all men think that way I was surprised to learn that some still do, so I went on to imagine a parallel universe, where roles are inverted and men are given a taste of their own sexist poison.” What do you think of the result? An amusing and useful reminder? Banal and irrelevant to today's sexism? Or just a red rag to blokes who don't believe they should be blamed for how women were portrayed in ads 50 years ago?
