Ingvar Kamprad, the Swedish founder of furniture and home accessories giant IKEA, passed away at his home in Sweden on January 27, 2018 at the age of 91. He opened the first IKEA store in 1958 after an employee at his small furniture company had paved the way for the flat-packing revolution by suggesting taking the legs off a table to get it into a car. Today, the multinational generates estimated revenues of around £33 billion from hundreds of outlets in dozens of countries, and its frugal-living billionaire founder once overtook Bill Gates as the world's richest person in 2004. Its ads range from societal reports to tongue-in-cheek send-up and animations like this from Dreamworks,, which references the Pink Panther by turning him blue.
