New posters are tackling the issue of rough sleeping in London, which rose18% year on year between 2017 and 2018, in a bid to make the plight of homeless people more relatable. Many passers-by – either because they are too busy, or simply because homelessness seems too great a problem – hurry past without engaging with someone who is sleeping rough or camping out on the streets. The West London Mission (WLM) offers a range of services designed to help get homeless people off the streets and into permanent accommodation and employment to that they can lead more fulfilling lives. Do you think this kind of campaign, which aims to make us view homeless people as individuals like the rest of us, is useful? Does it make us view rough sleepers in a helpful new way or would it be good to have other practical tips than donation on how to help?
