Here's one for Los Angeles-based designer Erik Brunetti's line of edgy streetwear, which he founded in 1990. Brunetti took his case to the US Supreme Court in 2019 after being denied a trademark for FUCT, which sounds like, but is spelled differently from, a profanity, and can be understood to stand for Friends U Can't Trust. The trademark was reportedly refused because of sexual and violent imagery in the range. Brunetti argues that the entire movie industry would need to be regulated under this premise. What do you think? There's a follow-up to this 'ad' on YouTube if the story grips you. Great fashion ad, viable challenge to authority, cynical attention-seeking?
